PEP stands for "Positive Expiratory Pressure". Translated into Danish, it means positive pressure (overpressure) during exhalation.

The PEP whistle is a good tool for:

- Loosening mucus in the lungs - especially in relation to your exhalation
- Managing shortness of breath
- Achieving a deeper and more calm breathing

Some studies show that the PEP whistle can reduce the amount of mucus in the lungs. Mucus in the airways hinders your breathing and can provide a breeding ground for pneumonia.

It is not possible to say exactly who benefits the most from the PEP whistle.

Many individuals with lung diseases find the PEP whistle to be a useful tool for removing and preventing the accumulation of mucus in the lungs.

This product is WITHOUT resistance pieces which are chosen separately. The PEP whistle does not work without resistance pieces.

How to loosen mucus

  1. -Place the PEP whistle in your mouth by sealing your lips around the mouthpiece. Breathe through the PEP whistle approximately 10 times. Inhalation: preferably through the nose, if possible. Exhalation: through the mouthpiece, a bit stronger and longer than during normal exhalation.
  2. -Remove the PEP whistle from your mouth and "thrust" three to five times with an open mouth (as if you are breathing heavily on a window). Optionally, cough up loosened mucus.
  3. -Take a break and relax.
  4. -Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you feel that your airways are clear. If you feel exhausted or dizzy, take a break or wait until later.

It is recommended to consult your healthcare provider (doctor or physiotherapist) before starting PEP whistle treatment to ensure correct usage.

CLEANING

After use, disassemble the PEP resistance by pulling and twisting. Then wash all parts with lukewarm dish soap/water. Rinse with running water. Wipe with a clean cloth and let air dry on a clean cloth. Can withstand being disinfected. Cleaning is recommended at a water temperature of 30-40 degrees Celsius.
